Heartswood is the first venue for Matt Binney and partner Bianca. Situated in the old Colonial Bank building in Yarra Glen, the desire was to create something relaxed yet refined for the local community. Formerly the Head Chef at Merricote (now closed) in Northcote, Matt seeks to create a venue that embraces the exceptional produce of the Yarra Valley. 

In the post COVID world we now find ourselves in, Heartswood has reimagined itself as a more casual venue with a rotating roster of themed menus that changes weekly. Keep an eye on social media to stay up to date with what is currently being offered.

The ethos is simple; it has to be delicious. With a focus on refined, upmarket brunch during the day with coffee by Dukes Coffee Roasters. The kitchen will work closely with local producers to highlight the wonderful ingredients the Yarra has to offer. On Friday and Saturday from afternoon onwards, the focus will shift to a rotating roster of themed menus that bring a sense of frivolity to dining again. It was a concept born of necessity and embraced by locals during the periods of COVID lockdown.
